Personal
Notes and Dedications
I
would like to dedicate this site to my mother Shanta, my Uncle Mr. Ajit Kerkar, my husband
Vinay, my friends Connie Ellis and Vanaja Rajan, my cousin Alka and Mallika, my Masi
(mothers sister) and Taiji (fathers brothers wife) who have nurtured me in my life.
This site is also dedicated to my kids Aashika and Shreya who help me with filing, typing
and researching and trying out recipes.
This
website has been influenced by Mr. A.B. Kerkar (The creator of the Taj Group of Hotels in
India, and my uncle, who showed me how to combine Indian arts with the traditions and
foods of India and to strive to do quality work. He has been credited for putting
India on the worlds tourist map. He pioneered taking Indian palaces and making them
into hotels with the Taj Palace Udaipur. He also pioneered haute Indian regional cuisines
to be served in the restaurants of his hotels. His latest creation is www.tulipstar.com ).
I
would also like to thank my motherland India and its wonderful culture, arts and
traditions that I was lucky to grow up in. Its traditions and wisdom nurture me in
America. Not a day goes by without me thanking the cosmic forces to have grown
up in the richness of Indian traditions which enable me to have a richer life by
combining it with the best of American traditions and values. The irony is that I
believe I am more American than Americans my age and more Indian than Indians my age.
I
would also like to thank the Amin family for their unending dedication to serve Indian
Cuisine to America and to Mrs. Amin for her wonderful products and recipes. I am
proud to be working with them in my endeavors.
